Bau däin Doheem – your new “home” in two hours

The construction sector is full of people who enjoy tinkering, designing and getting hands-on. For many, that passion begins early – often in childhood bedrooms. Real or miniature, construction equipment has a way of capturing children’s imaginations.

Our collaboration with Patrick Laschette highlights the many parallels between construction toys and real-world building sites. The Luxembourger designs and develops custom interlocking brick sets and partnered with JANS on his latest creation.

JANS miniature house

Managing director Steve Jans has already assembled the set and proudly displays it at home. A few of our customers have also managed to secure the special edition, which now feature in one or two bedrooms. The instructions are available online via QR code, and the 702-piece set takes about two hours to complete. It is recommended for ages eight and up.

One particular expert in the field is the set’s creator, Patrick Laschette. Outside his day job, he enjoys channeling his passion for construction and craftsmanship into designing custom sets. He aims to incorporate every customer request, no matter how small. The most challenging element of the JANS set? The digger. “It was difficult to find a way to integrate the flexible hoses that run along the digger arm,” he explains. “At first, the arm was too heavy and tipped forward. Finding solutions to problems like these is exactly what makes it so enjoyable.”

The same in miniature

What works on paper might not necessarily work in the real world, as JANS knows all too well. This applies to the toy set and the building site in equal measure. With a strong team and a wealth of experience, JANS is well equipped to bring even the boldest customer requests to life.

“The set is a perfect reflection of what JANS stands for,” says managing director Steve Jans. “And it’s also just a lot of fun putting the set together and seeing all the tiny details.”

Dedication to perfection

From the first meeting and original digital design to the initial prototype and the final version, the special JANS set took around six months to develop. This process was also not too different from the reality of construction. Implementing individual projects at a high level of quality takes time and requires a whole lot of dedication, experience and competency. For both JANS and Laschette, every new project is an opportunity for development.

“Working with JANS really was a great experience!” says Laschette. “Even though it’s a large company, it’s always very friendly and there’s always someone available to talk to. It’s the perfect example of a family-run company.”

Those who wish to build the set themselves can pick one up from the LUBRIX SARL-S online store.
