The idea behind this modern extension project was all about combining the modern trend of open-plan living with the traditions of the existing old building. The large, frameless windows magnify the size of the living area, which extends beyond the facade.
This creates a unique view into the downward sloping garden and the hillside opposite.

The combination of old and new was to continue inside the property, with reclaimed wood used as a material for various elements and dotted all over the house.
What’s more, the flooring is made using Belgian bluestone, giving the whole house a fascinating depth with its bold blue and grey tones.
It’s not often you see a staircase given center stage as in this house. If you ask us, we think the staircase has earned it too. A room made from reclaimed wooden beams, subtle lighting, and a glass banister turn this staircase into a genuine eye-catcher.
Both the walls and the ceilings of the modern extension were realized using a timber frame construction.
The whole building is also fitted with special cooling ceilings, which are an effective and energy-efficient way of lowering temperatures in the heat of the summer.
