JANS – A company shaped by courage and innovation

More than 30 years of ideas, challenges and shared successes – each chapter different from the one before it. That is what makes the JANS story special. Since its foundation, the company has continuously evolved and reinvented itself, embracing new opportunities and growing into one of Luxembourg’s leading players in the construction and real estate industry.

The story began on 1 May 1991, when Claude Jans founded Constructions Claude Jans, a company specialising in construction and building materials. By taking the courageous step of starting his own business, the then 34-year-old demonstrated a quality that continues to define JANS today: the courage to embrace change.

“I think that’s what makes us stand out,” says Steve Jans, who now leads the company as managing director. “We always challenge ourselves and look for ways to improve what we do. This mindset has enabled us to take on challenges, seize opportunities and keep moving forward.” When his father founded the company, Steve was just two years old, and the workforce was small enough to count on one hand.

Today, more than 200 dedicated employees are helping to write the next chapter of the JANS story. Together, they share a common mission: to create homes where people feel comfortable and truly at home. More than 900 projects have been realised over the years, transforming what began as a small family business into an established group of companies. Today, JANS brings together a broad range of expertise and specialist trades, blending together to deliver quality at the highest level.

A first major milestone came in 1998. By then, JANS had already established a strong reputation in the construction industry, delivering projects for private clients as well as the public sector. With the creation of JANS Immobilière, the company expanded its activities beyond construction to become a project developer as well. This holistic approach – bringing development and construction together under one roof – remains an integral part of the JANS identity today.

As the construction industry evolved, so did JANS. Increasingly complex requirements called for new expertise and capabilities. In response, the company continued to expand its specialist divisions, including JANS Energies in 2007 and JANS Toitures in 2011. Heating systems, electrical installations and roofing are now among the services delivered directly by JANS. This integrated approach ensures consistent quality, greater efficiency and a strong sense of trust.

JANS continues to grow – as a business, as a family and as a team, while remaining committed to the company and society as a whole.
